For Cut to the Chase’s production of Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca @ Liverpool Playhouse November 2008 I commissioned the World Class Flamenco guitarist Juan Martin to compose original music as well as play live in the production. I worked with Juan in London and Liverpool for the development and creation of the music.
I was also fortunate to be invited to stay at Madrid at the University de Estudientes and meet Lorca’s niece – Laura Lorca. This prestigious faculty is home to the Lorca archive and is where Lorca studied with Picasso, Bunel and Dali.
For the research and development of the production I travelled to Granada (Lorca’s home) with my designer (Olivia du Monceau) where we studied and observed the Andalucian culture and explored the authentic aesthetic and inspiration behind Lorca’s work. I also commissioned educator (Peter Whitby) to compile and create an education pack that accompanied the production.

CttC ran workshops in schools, colleges and Universities, hosted a Page to Stage at The Liverpool Playhouse. This production was a sell out, with a waiting list for seats on each performance.
